Areas of expertise
Like any self-respecting Free Software coder, I've been involved in a wide range of projects. I therefore have experience in various domains, including the following:
- GNU/Linux, particularly Debian: daily usage, systems administration, customisation, development;
- Gforge: usage, administration, customisation, development;
- Docbook;
- Development in various languages, including C/C++, Perl, Python, PHP, Tcl, shell and related languages.
- Miscellaneous services: LDAP, e-mail, news, Apache, DNS;
- Databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL): setup, design, data migration;
- Versioning tools: CVS, Subversion, Arch/TLA, Bazaar;
- Technical texts proofreading or translation (see my contributions to books published by Eyrolles);
- Integration into existing code and infrastructure.
Then of course Free Software isn't all, and I also learned a lot in my professional life at France télécom. My experience there includes developing the Wanadoo/Voila "Guide du web" (Perl+Python+CORBA+PostgreSQL) and the single sign-on system (Perl+MySQL). Both have serious robustness constraints. I also worked on the Voila search engine, which adds some performance considerations.
- Design and validation of technical architectures, with a focus on web-oriented applications;
- Web projects: back-office and front-office;
- Optimisation and performance/scaling up.
